TU Comes Up Short Against No. 1 Marian

UPLAND, Ind. – The TU volleyball squad faced off against the reigning NAIA National Champions, No. 1 Marian Knights, and fell in a 25-17, 25-23, 25-16 sweep.

Despite the 3-0 defeat, Taylor (1-3, 1-2 CL) put up a fight, holding a lead in each set of the match. In the first set, TU grabbed a quick three-point advantage thanks to five kills from three different Trojans.

The visiting Knights (1-0, 1-0 CL) held a 15-12 edge in the second set, before a four-point swing in favor of Taylor pushed the host squad ahead. Jessica Dodane highlighted the run with a pair of service aces.

Savannah Strieter shined in her collegiate debut, landing a kill on each of her first three attacks. The freshman finished the match with two blocks and four kills with a .444 hitting percentage.

Two Trojan attackers reached double-digit kills on Saturday, as Amanda Adams and Grace Isaacs recorded over 10 kills for the third-straight contest. Isaacs has shown consistency at the net, boasting a .348 hitting percentage on the day, while posting a .344 hitting percentage on the year.

The Purple and Gold will hit the road for their next contest, as the team faces Bethel (2-1, 2-1 CL) on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
