Trojans Sweep Goshen for Luthy’s 100th Win

UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor volleyball head coach Erin Luthy snagged her 100th win with the Trojans on Wednesday with a 25-17, 25-11, 25-15 sweep of visiting Goshen, improving Taylor to 14-2 overall and 4-1 within the Crossroads League.

Luthy became the fifth head coach in the rich history of the Taylor volleyball program to reach the 100-win milestone, upping her career mark to 100 wins and 78 losses through her first six seasons at the helm for the Purple and Gold.

The win also continued Taylor’s best start to a season since opening 18-1 in 2010 and gave TU its best start to a season in league play since opening 5-1 in 2016.

The sixth-straight three-set sweep of Goshen (3-13, 0-5 CL) by a Taylor volleyball squad started slowly however, with TU needing to overcome 12 hitting errors in the opening set to take the win. Taylor righted the ship from there and rolled to comfortable margins in the second and third sets.

Amanda Adams moved to within 14 kills of 10th in program history with 14 terminations in the match and Ryan Czerniak added 12. Karli Ware and Stephaney Fifield had their serves working as well, with Ware notching four aces and Fifield collecting two.

Taylor was also strong at the net on defense with 11 total blocks in the contest. Grace Isaacs led with four solo blocks and two block assists. Jaylynn Dunsmore also got in on the act with five block assists and Adams added four block assists.

Taylor is set to return to action this weekend with two more home contests on September 17 and 18. TU is slated to host Spring Arbor (8-9, 1-4 CL) on Friday at 7:00 pm and No. 16 Indiana Wesleyan (7-1, 4-1 CL) on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
