Trojans Fall To Indiana Wesleyan On Senior Night

UPLAND, Ind. – In front of a packed Turner Stadium on Saturday night, the Trojans battled valiantly against their longtime cross-county rival, but the Wildcats used a pair of second-half goals to escape with a 3-2 triumph on Senior Night.

The Trojans (0-5-0, 0-4-0 CL) held a 2-1 advantage at the halftime break, scoring a pair of goals 26 seconds apart. However, the Wildcats (2-0-0, 1-0-0 CL) found the equalizer 1:18 into the second half, before recording the eventual game-winner in the final 11 minutes.

Jackson Hoosier and Brayden Murfey, both freshmen, each scored their first collegiate goals against Indiana Wesleyan. Hoosier tied the game at 1-1 off a perfect free kick from TU goalkeeper Joaquin Hansen late in the first half, and Murfey followed with his first goal off a crisp pass from Paul McBride.

Taylor outshot the Wildcats, 18-13, including a 13-10 advantage in shots on frame. Jack McNeil led the Trojans with four shots, while Hoosier, Murfey, Brian Matipa, Alex Gallup and Owen Hardy each finished with two.

Hansen, along with recording his first assist of the season, collected five saves, increasing his season total to 31.

In the Senior Night festivities before the game, Gabe Bowron, Tyler Dayhoff, Gallup, Cole Guillaume, Hansen, McNeil, Noah Rodman, and Adam Siegelin were recognized and honored for their careers and their accomplishments in a TU uniform. The eight seniors have combined to win 18 games as a group, including 13 at Turner Stadium over the past four years.

Taylor will be back in action on Wednesday, September 23, traveling to Fort Wayne to take on Saint Francis (3-2-1, 2-2-0 CL). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
