SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Reaching the century mark for the first time in nearly two years, IU South Bend earned a dominant victory on Tuesday night, defeating Governors State 103-58 inside the Student Activities Center.

Maddie Gard led the Titans (7-3, 2-2 CCAC) with 23 points in the win, as IUSB shot 54.5% (12-22) from three-point range to fuel the high-scoring victory. Katie Gard collected 17 points, going 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, while Sara Doi finished with 14 points and a team-high five assists.

Kylee Stepp came off the bench to score 13 points, along with Maddy Schumacher, who posted ten points in the win.

The Titans jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, with five points from Maddie Gard in the opening run, and IUSB remained in the lead throughout the rest of the night. Closing the first quarter on an 11-2 run, Schumacher’s fast-break layup in the closing seconds put the Titans up 27-14 by the end of the opening period.

IUSB continued to manage a double-digit lead in the second quarter, as a three-pointer late in the period from Katie Gard started a 7-0 run for the Titans that gave them their first 20-point lead of the night. Maddie Gard scored on a fast break from Amaya Rufus’ steal, putting the Titans up 47-26 with 23 seconds left in the first half. The Jaguars (4-3, 3-2 CCAC)) knocked down a three-pointer to close the gap in the closing seconds, and IU South Bend took a 47-29 lead at the break.

Maddie Gard came out to score the first five points of the third quarter as the Titans continued to pull away. Stepp put the Titans up 40 with a three-pointer late in the game, and her bucket at the 1:07 mark put IUSB over the century mark in the win.

The Titans will take the next ten days off over the Thanksgiving break, before preparing to travel to Trinity Christian on Saturday, December 4. Tipoff with the Trolls is set for 2:00 p.m. ET.
