White Closes Collegiate Career as Steeplechase All-American

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Taylor men’s track and field team had two athletes compete on the third and final day of action at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Alabama for the 2022 NAIA National Championships. Senior Connor White capped off his running career with arguably one of his best collegiate races, ending as an All-American in the steeplechase.

White took the track with grit and excitement as he entered his final race as a TU athlete. The Upland, Indiana native fought with the lead pack from start, battling with the top-four as he entered his final lap. From a soggy downpour yesterday in prelims, to a hot and sunny day for finals, White overcame the elements and clocked a lifetime-best finish of 9:09.50. The senior claimed fourth place overall and earned his first-ever All-American honors.

Damon Knowles competed in the pole vault for the Trojans. Knowles was unable to clear a height and did not place.

Over the three-day meet, the Trojans finished with four All-Americans and tallied a total of 19 points to finish 15th in the team standings.
