Taylor Falters on the Road at No. 3 Marian

INDIANAPOLIS – A road matchup with the third-ranked Marian Knights got away from TU, as the Trojans suffered their worst defeat in over 15 years. No. 3 Marian (7-4, 3-0 CL) remained undefeated in league play, defeating TU (6-3, 2-2 CL) by a final score of 85-45 on Saturday.

The two teams faced off for the second time in as many weeks with Marian securing the season sweep. The visiting Trojans struggled out of the gates, falling behind by eight points within the first five minutes of the contest.

TU put together a good stretch of play in the second half of the opening period, going even with MU in the final five minutes of the quarter. Five different Trojans scored in the stretch with Lauren James leading the way with five points of her own.

The 5-7 guard, James, paced the team on the day, scoring 12 points on five-of-11 shooting from the planks. James went two-for-six from beyond the arc, hitting multiple treys for the eighth time this season.

Taylor Westgate led the rebounding effort, grabbing seven boards in the contest to go along with six points.

TU is slated to return home on Wednesday, as it takes on RV Indiana Wesleyan (4-1, 1-0 CL) at 7:00 pm.
