CHICAGO — Saint Xavier University’s Nadia Atton (Midland, Mich.) and Kaleigh Ritter (Tinley Park, Ill.) each gained their second Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week awards of the 2021 season, while Trinity Christian College’s Kenzie Gibson (Byron Center, Mich.) captured her first, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.

Atton was named the CCAC Attacker of the Week for the second time this year courtesy of an impressive 6.57 kills-per-set average and .327 hitting clip. The senior outside hitter also dished out 2.86 digs per set and totaled six assist blocks.

Atton opened her week by recording a career-high 25 kills and a .373 attack percentage in a four-set decision over University of St. Francis (Ill.) last Tuesday. In the same match, she also produced 11 digs and four assist blocks in notching a double-double.

Three nights later, Atton provided 21 kills, nine digs and two assist blocks in a three-set victory opposite Indiana University Kokomo.

The freshman collected her fifth double-double of the season in the win over St. Francis with her 44 assists and 11 digs. She then went on to add 36 assists and eight digs in the victory against Indiana Kokomo.

The two victories, including the league one over St. Francis in a battle of unbeatens, kept the Cougars atop the league standings (5-0) along with Indiana University South Bend. Overall, Saint Xavier is 8-1.

Gibson had a busy seven days on her way to earning CCAC Defender of the Week accolades. The junior defensive specialist averaged 6.22 digs per set in a 3-2 week for Trinity Christian.
