South Dakota State’s Culver, Fordham’s Miller garner Louisville Slugger/Wilson NFCA DI weekly honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – South Dakota State’s Lindsey Culver and Fordham’s Devon Miller were selected DI Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week, respectively. The duo was honored for their outstanding play during the week of March 29-April 4.

Culver powered the Jackrabbit offense in a four-game sweep at Western Illinois last week. The returning freshman hit .692 (9-for-13) with five home runs, seven RBI and eight runs scored. Culver registered a 2.231 slugging percentage as eight of her nine hits went for extra bases (five home runs, two triples, one double). A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Culver homered twice in both ends of the April 2 doubleheader. She registered a pair of three-hit contests and was a double short of the cycle in the final contest of the weekend.

Miller retired all 30 batters she faced as she twirled back-to-back five-inning perfect games against La Salle. The sophomore hurler’s stat line was identical in each start, striking out 12 batters on both days. Miller fanned the first seven Explorers in her first start and struck out the side three times in each contest. It marked the seventh and eighth perfect games in Fordham softball history as Miller became just the second Ram (Jen Mineau) to record two in one season.
