Sonoraville’s Long captures first 2020-21 MaxPreps/NFCA High School Player of Week
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Taylor Long of Sonoraville High School (Calhoun, Ga.) captured the first MaxPreps/NFCA High School Player of the Week for the 2020-21 season. Long is being recognized for her outstanding performance during the week of Aug. 24-30.
From the circle, Long keyed the Phoenix to a 2-1 week, which included a no-hitter in her final outing of the week. The junior posted a 2-1 mark with a 0.00 ERA, 54 strikeouts, seven walks in 23 innings of work. Long surrendered just three hits, limiting her opponents to a .039 batting average.
Long made a first-inning run hold up as she no-hit Lakeview-Fort Oglethorp in a 1-0 victory. Against the Warriors, she was an error away from a perfect game, fanning 19 and not issuing a walk. Long struck out 16 and surrendered an unearned run in a one-hit complete-game victory over LaFayette. The right-handed hurler went the distance (9.2 innings) in a tough 10-inning loss (1-0) to Coahulla Creek. In the defeat, Long allowed an unearned run on two hits with 21 strikeouts and three walks.
