SOUTH BEND, Ind. – IU South Bend Women’s Basketball and head coach Steve Bruce have announced the first addition to the 2022-23 squad, as senior forward Tia Chambers plans to join the Titans this fall.

Chambers comes to IUSB after four seasons at IU Kokomo, where she was a three-time First Team All-River States Conference selection. The Mishawaka, Ind. native and Penn HS alum returns home after leading the Cougars with 13.2 points per game, and 1,257 career points at IUK.

“I chose IUSB simply because of the family atmosphere, and the heart and desire that this team has for the game of basketball,” said Chambers. “On the academic side, IU South Bend offers the major that I want to pursue, as well. I can’t wait to feel what it’s like to be a Titan!“

IU South Bend comes off a 25-8 record last season, and back-to-back 25-win campaigns. The Titans qualified for their first NAIA Tournament berth since 2005. The team returns four of five regular starters from last year, including a pair of All-CCAC selections and NAIA All-American Honorable Mention Maddie Gard.”

“We are extremely excited to have Tia join our program,” said Bruce. “The success she had as post player during her four years in the River States Conference is very impressive. Tia brings skill, toughness, experience, and competitive drive to our team.”
