No. 17 Taylor Sweeps Huntington for 20th Win

 

UPLAND, Ind. – The newly 17th-ranked Taylor volleyball team continued to roll on Wednesday, sweeping Huntington 25-17, 25-21, 25-18 for its eighth-straight win and fourth-straight 3-0 victory. The win improved the Trojans to 20-2 on the season and 10-1 in Crossroads League play.

 

The night started slowly, with Huntington (8-12, 3-8 CL) jumping to a 10-3 lead, before Taylor awoke with 13-straight points off the serve of Amanda Adams. The Trojans never looked back in the set, easing to the 25-17 victory behind six kills in six swings from Sarah Scott.

 

The entire TU offense clicked in the second, as Taylor led throughout in a 25-21 decision. Taylor teamed for 16 kills and just three errors to control the action.

 

A back-and-forth third set went Taylor’s way late, as the Purple and Gold closed on an 11-4 spurt to secure the 25-18 win and seal the match victory.

 

Scott and Adams led the offense for TU with 11 kills each, while Ryan Czerniak added eight kills and Grace Isaacs had seven. Isaacs and Scott played well defensively as well with three blocks each and Stephaney Fifield collected 13 digs. Bragg ended with 37 assists and eight digs and Adams added three aces and seven digs.

 

No. 17 Taylor (20-2, 10-1 CL) is set to play at Thomas More (16-3) on Friday, October 1 and at Georgetown (6-11) on Saturday, October 2, before returning to CL play with a match at No. 7 Marian (19-0, 11-0 CL) on Wednesday, October 6.
