2020-21 NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 – Poll 4 (April 21)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For the fourth week in a row, Southern Oregon earns the No. 1 spot in the nation. The Raiders claimed 19 first-place votes for a total of 529 final points in this week’s NAIA Softball Coaches’ Poll Top 25. The 2019 national champions hold a current record of 38-2 and are No. 1 in five different statistical categories. Rounding out the top five was Oklahoma City, Science & Arts (Okla.) Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and Central Methodist (Mo.).
Poll Methodology
- The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
- Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
- The frequency of the polls is bi-weekly. This policy was approved by the National Administrative Council (NAC) prior to the 2016-17 academic season. This change allows raters the opportunity to consider a larger body of work between rating periods..
