Minnesota and Penn State Earn Three Stars Honors

McLaughlin earns First Star accolades after posting a nation-leading seven points to help the Gophers sweep Arizona State 

 

First Star

Blake McLaughlin, Minnesota

F – Jr. – Grand Rapids, Minn.

 

  • Paced the nation with seven points on the weekend to help the Gophers sweep Arizona State
  • Recorded a career-high four points on two goals and a pair of assists in Thursday’s 10-0 win, including the game-winning goal
  • Added two goals and an assist in Friday’s 10-2 finale, including Minnesota’s second shorthanded goal of the season
  • Earns his third career weekly award and first of the season

  • Tied for the NCAA lead with four goals over the last week as No. 4/4 Minnesota swept Arizona State
  • Notched a career-high four points in Thursday’s 10-0 win, including his second career hat trick and Minnesota’s first natural hat trick since 2014
  • Followed up with a goal and a helper in Friday’s 10-2 finale
  • Claims his fifth career weekly honor and first of the season

Connor McMenamin, Penn State 

F – So. – Collegeville, Pa.

 

  • Recorded five points, highlighted by a game-winning goal, to help the Nittany Lions split the weekend with No. 12/12 Wisconsin
  • Tied the Penn State single-game record for points, factoring into every Nittany Lion goal during Friday’s 5-4 victory
  • His five points and four assists are both new career bests and mark his third multi-point game this season and the fourth of his career
  • Claims his first career weekly honor
