#11 MARIAN 25, #5 CONCORDIA 7

No. 5 Concordia suffered their first setback of the season, as Zach Bundalo’s three-TD performance helped lead No. 11 Marian to a homecoming victory, 25-7 over the Cardinals.
A 29-yard TD pass from Bundalo to Johnny William on Marian’s first play from scrimmage gave the Knights (6-2, 4-1 Mideast) an early lead, and a 41-yard TD run from Baron Huebler stretched the Marian advantage to 13-0 midway through the second quarter. Driving inside the red zone on the following possession, the Knights nearly scored again before Gerald McHenry put the Cardinals (5-1, 3-1 Mideast) on the board with a 93-yard pick-six, cutting the MU lead to 13-7 at the halftime break.
Marian’s defense hold the lead by forcing a pair of turnovers and two turnovers on downs to open the second half, while Bundalo connected on two more long TD passes to secure the win for the Knights. Bundalo finished with 247 yards on just nine completions, while William brought in six passes for 148 yards and two TDs. Huebler rushed for 149 yards and a TD, with Daylen Taylor carrying the ball 23 times for 106 yards. Sir’Zion Dance led the defense with 10 tackles along with a forced fumble and interception.
Gavin Brooks finished 8-for-15 for 115 yards through the air for Concordia, with Seeger DeGayner collecting 88 yards on five receptions. Casey Rauch would make 12 tackles with two sacks and a forced fumble for the Cardinals.

#8 INDIANA WESLEYAN 23, SAINT FRANCIS (IND.) 21

The host Cougars would take the lead with less than a minute to play, but Ben VonGunten’s field goal as time expired gave Indiana Wesleyan the win, 23-21 at Saint Francis (Ind.).
The Wildcats (6-1, 3-1 Mideast) led throughout most of the game, first taking a 3-0 lead on a 27-yard field goal from VonGunten late in the first quarter. Saint Francis (2-4, 1-3 Mideast) wouldn’t take control of the game until their final drive which saw Heath Simmons find Jay Segal for a 26-yard TD pass to give the Cougars a 21-20 edge.
With 44 seconds remaining, a 21-yard kick return from Justin Johnson, and a 21-yard pass from Xander Stokes to Devodney Alford helped set up the 46-yard game-winning field goal attempt for VonGunten.
Stokes tallied 244 passing yards in the win, completing 21 of 35 passes. Alford rushed for 80 yards on 29 attempts with one TD. Jacquez Carter made eight catches to lead the IWU receivers, for 97 yards. Justin Johnson made 13 tackles for the Wildcats on the defensive end, along with a fumble recovery.
Simmons threw for 237 yards and three TDs to lead the Saint Francis attack, completing 24 of 39 attempts. Segal collected a team-high 91 receiving yards on eight catches and a TD. River Walsh finished with 14 tackles and a half-sack for USF.

#19 OLIVET NAZARENE 37, MISSOURI BAPTIST 16

Bouncing back from an upset last week, No. 19 Olivet Nazarene scored 30 unanswered points en route to a 37-16 homecoming victory over Missouri Baptist.
The Spartans (3-5, 0-4 Midwest) took an early lead after Odaine Reed’s 37-yard field goal on the team’s opening drive, but two first-half interceptions helped to keep Missouri Baptist off the scoreboard until late in the third quarter. In the meantime, Gil’Scott Jacks rushed for a pair of TDs, and Patryk Ryczek had a 58-yard pick-six as the Tigers (5-2, 3-1 Midwest) built at 30-3 lead midway through the third. TD runs from Ronald Allen and Darius Morrison helped to close the gap, but Aaje Grayson put the game away after capping an 80-yard drive with a TD run for the Tigers.
Grayson finished with 107 yards on 13 carries for Olivet Nazarene, while Cameron Crouch completed 18 of 32 passes for 213 yards and a TD in the win. Jason Freeman made 14 tackles along with an interception to lead the ONU defense.
Allen rushed 12 times for 102 yards to lead the Spartan attack. Defensively, Jaylen Cowley made a team-high 10 tackles, and Rakweon Ramsey had one and a half sacks on the day.

#21 SAINT XAVIER 62, TRINITY INTERNATIONAL 7

The No. 21 Saint Xavier defense would score enough on their own to earn the victory on Saturday, as the Cougars posted 56 points in the first half of a 62-7 win over Trinity International.
In a span of four Trojan possessions in the first and second quarters, the Cougars (5-2, 3-1 Midwest) would score on a pair of pick-sixes, along with a fumble recovery and 48-yard TD return. The offense also had a strong performance, led by Stuart Ross going 15-for-17 through the air for 145 yards and a pair of TDs. Thirteen different players carried the ball at least once for SXU, but Amari Venerable posted a pair of rushing TDs in the win. Defensively, interceptions from Peyton Nigro and Steven Meyer added to the Cougars’ point total, along with Juabarey Anderson’s fumble return.
For the Trojans (2-6, 0-4 Midwest), Lorente Blakeney finished with a team-high 12 tackles while Logan Shears made ten stops on the day.

ST. FRANCIS (ILL.) 35, ST. AMBROSE 14

Sam Tumilty would score all five touchdowns for St. Francis (Ill.) on Saturday, as the Saints became the last MSFA team still undefeated in league play in either league, with a 35-14 win at St. Ambrose.
The Saints’ quarterback rushed for 211 yards on 28 carries, scoring five TDs in the win, while also completing 14 of 23 passes for 162 yards. Wideout Ravon Johnson collected a game-high ten receptions for 114 yards. Defensively, Michael Whitney made seven tackles for the Saints (4-2, 4-0 Midwest).
The visitors would build a 35-0 lead before the Bees (3-5, 2-2 Midwest) put up a pair of TDs in the fourth quarter. Kaden King’s seven-yard TD run capped a 14-play, 80-yard drive, and a 43-yard TD pass from John Benckendorf to Mark Skokna highlighted an 85-yard scoring drive late in the game for St. Ambrose.
Benckendorf completed eight of ten passes to lead the SAU offense, throwing for 140 yards. On the other side of the ball, Nick Daniel made 11 tackles for the Bees.

JUDSON 30, ROOSEVELT 20

A pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns wasn’t quite enough to complete the comeback, as Judson scored their second victory of the season, 30-20 over a late-charging Roosevelt squad.
The Eagles (3-5, 2-2 Midwest) took charge early, scoring on a 68-yard TD drive on the game’s opening possession before taking advantage of an early Roosevelt turnover for a 20-yard TD pass from Aubrey Williams to Jaquavious Wise for a 14-0 first-quarter lead.
Trailing 22-7 entering the fourth quarter, Roosevelt (3-4, 2-2 Midwest) rallied with a pair of Jack Sheehan TD passes. Sheehan connected with Khaliq Hammond on the second play of the period, but Judson would put the comeback out of reach with a Brandon Mackey TD run with just under four minutes to play.
Williams finished with 155 yards, completing 15 of 21 passes with two TDs in the win. Wise had a team-high 80 yards on four catches with one TD. David Dunbar made six tackles with a forced fumble and fumble recovery to lead the JU defense.
Sheehan went 15-for-30 through the air, collecting 149 yards and a pair of TDs. Blaize Griffin finished with 59 yards on four receptions. Amarion Evans led the Laker defense with eight tackles, including two sacks.

TAYLOR 63, MADONNA 0

A total of eight rushing TDs helped Taylor to their biggest margin of victory in nearly 50 years, as the Trojans took a commanding 63-0 win at Madonna.
Three players recorded two or more rushing TDs in the win for the Trojans (2-5, 1-3 Mideast), led by Jacob Cleaver’s 88 yards in 19 carries and two trips to paydirt. Stephen Ellis rushed eight times for 79 yards and three TDs, while Rylan Arihood carried the ball 18 times for 65 yards and three TDs.
On the other side of the ball, Reid Wheeler joined in on the scoring, grabbing an interception and going 44 yards for the TD in the third quarter. Four different players recorded interceptions in the win, as the Trojans won the turnover battled by a 5-1 margin. Collin Woolford and Aven Jones eached finished with ten tackles for Taylor.
Josh DePaulis completed 17 of 35 passes for Madonna (1-7, 0-5 Mideast), throwing for 163 yards. D’Vonta Garrett made a game-high 12 receptions for 109 yards on the day. Defensively, Jesse Morris led the Crusaders with 10 tackles and an interception.
