Wolverines’ Storako, Huskers’ Andrews and Wildcats’ Newport secure this week’s conference plaudits
Player of the Week
Morgan Newport, Northwestern
Grad. – OF/LHP – DeKalb, Ill. – DeKalb – Major: Biological Sciences
• Batted .615 with a 1.154 slugging percentage and .667 on-base percentage, along with two home runs, eight hits, three RBI and four runs scored in NU’s four-game sweep of Wisconsin last weekend
• Also shone in the circle with a 2-0 record, tossing 9.1 scoreless innings, including a three-hit complete-game shutout in the nightcap of a March 27 doubleheader
• A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection (2018, 2019, 2020)
• Earns her first career Player of the Week honor
• Last Northwestern Player of the Week: Rachel Lewis (Feb. 17, 2020)
Pitcher of the Week
Alex Storako, Michigan
Jr. – RHP – Frankfort, Ill. – Lincoln Way East – Major: Sport Management
• Went 2-0 with a 0.49 ERA, one complete game, one combined shutout, 23 strikeouts and only four walks in 14.1 innings last week, helping the Wolverines sweep a four-game weekend series at Indiana
• Allowed just one run on four hits and struck out 17 in a nine-inning win on March 27
• Shared shutout in series finale on Sunday, yielding only two hits and fanning six in the first five innings
• Named an Academic All-Big Ten selection in 2020
• Collects her second career Pitcher of the Week plaudit

Freshman of the Week
Billie Andrews, Nebraska
IF – Gretna, Neb. – Gretna – Major: Graphic Design
• Posted a .667 batting average, 1.133 slugging percentage and .667 on-base percentage with a home run, 10 hits, five RBI and six runs scored as the Huskers took three of four games vs. Penn State last week
• Had multi-hit games in all four outings against the Nittany Lions, led by a career-high three-hit outing (including a triple and home run) and career-best three RBI in the opener of a March 27 doubleheader
• Scored a career-high two runs in both games of that same twinbill
• Receives her first career Freshman of the Week award
