Badgers’ Caufield earns first star after recording second career hat trick to secure a series sweep for Wisconsin

 

First Star

Cole Caufield, Wisconsin

  • Led the nation with six points last week, including four goals in a series sweep of Penn State
  • Recorded his second career hat trick in Tuesday night’s 7-3 win against Penn State to become the first Wisconsin standout since Robbie Earl (2004-06) to have two hat tricks as a Badger
  • Also paced all skaters nationally in goals (4), power-play goals (2) and power-play points (4) last week
  • Earns his second career weekly award and his first since Oct. 15, 2019

  • Stopped 52 of 53 shots in the season-opening series against Arizona State to help the Spartans to a 1-0-1 mark
  • Made 30 saves to record his first career shutout on Friday night, highlighted by 16 stops in the third period
  • Finished the series with a conference-leading save percentage of .981 and a 0.48 goals-against average
  • Claims his second career weekly award and first since Dec. 4, 2018

Third Star

Thomas Bordeleau, Michigan

F – Fr. – Terrebonne, Quebec

 

  • Tallied four points in a series sweep of Wisconsin to keep the Wolverines undefeated
  • Recorded a trio of helpers in Michigan’s 5-2 victory on Thursday night
  • Scored the game-winning goal with 27 seconds remaining in overtime at Wisconsin on Friday
  • The newcomer has recorded points in each of his first four NCAA games and has factored into three of the Wolverines’ game winners this season
  • Earns his first career weekly award
