Michigan Clinches Big Ten Softball Title

Wolverines earn their 22nd conference championship and 20th outright crown

 

ROSEMONT, Ill. — The University of Michigan softball team has clinched the 2021 Big Ten Conference title following a sweep of Saturday’s doubleheader at Minnesota by scores of 10-4 and 3-1. It’s the Wolverines’ 22nd Big Ten crown and 20th outright championship, as well as their third consecutive title and 12th in the past 13 seasons.

Michigan is 32-5 in Big Ten play this season, while Minnesota is currently second with a 25-10 conference record. Both schools have five games remaining in the regular season, including Sunday’s final game of this weekend’s series between the Wolverines and Golden Gophers in Minneapolis (3 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network and the FOX Sports app).

The Big Ten season will wrap up next Sunday, May 16, with the 64-team field for the NCAA Tournament announced later that same evening at 9 p.m. (ET) live on ESPN2.
