NORTHERN INDIANA CONFERENCE

Bremen (4-4. 2-2 NIC) at Clay (0-8, 0-4 NIC): The Lions clawed past Clay, 49-0, last season. Reece Greene ran for a touchdown in Bremen’s 40-15 loss to Riley. Jose Duque tallied three tackles and a fumble recovery in the Colonials’ 49-6 loss to Glenn. Matt’s pick: Bremen 45, Clay 6.

Elkhart (7-1, 3-1 NIC) at New Prairie (7-1): The No. 8 (Class 4A) Cougars dropped a 21-14 decision at Elkhart a season ago. Rodney Gates accounted for 55 all-purpose yards with a touchdown in the Lions’ 35-0 win over Marian. Noah Mungia ran 15 times for 69 yards in New Prairie’s 21-0 loss at Penn. Matt’s pick: Elkhart 23, New Prairie 20.

Penn (6-2, 4-0 NIC) at Adams (1-7, 0-4 NIC) (TCU School Field): The No. 10 (Class 6A) Kingsmen blanked Adams, 38-0, last year. Jake Balis scampered 24 times for 137 yards for Penn against New Prairie. Jeremiah Love rambled 14 times for 57 yards with three scores in the Eagles’ 35-28 loss to Jimtown. Matt’s pick: Penn 49, Adams 10.

Riley (5-3, 3-1 NIC) at Jimtown (6-2, 4-0 NIC): The Jimmies downed Riley, 35-0, during the 2021 campaign. Marques Young recorded 11 tackles for the Wildcats against Bremen. Kaden Rogers caught a 12-yard touchdown pass for Jimtown against Adams. Matt’s pick: Jimtown 41, Riley 21.

Saint Joseph (2-6, 1-3 NIC) at Marian (2-6, 1-3 NIC): The Indians suffered a 16-6 loss to Marian in their last meeting. Antonio Morrell came up with a fumble recovery in Saint Joseph’s 7-0 loss to Benet Academy (Ill.). Kaden Middleton managed eight tackles for the Knights against Elkhart. Matt’s pick: Marian 17, Saint Joseph 13.

Washington (1-6, 1-3 NIC) at Glenn (4-4, 2-2 NIC): The Falcons soared to a 41-0 victory over Washington a year ago. Jason Dockery hauled in a 47-yard touchdown pass in the Panthers’ 33-8 win over Bowman Academy. Eli Beeney returned an interception 37 yards for a score for Glenn against Clay. Matt’s pick: Glenn 37, Washington 7.

NORTHERN LAKES CONFERENCE

Concord (3-5, 2-4 NLC) at Plymouth (0-8, 0-6 NLC): The Minutemen cruised to a 51-3 win over Plymouth last season. Miguel Aguilar converted a 22-yard field goal in Concord’s 15-11 loss to Mishawaka. Alan Barrera finished with 6.5 tackles in the Rockies’ 49-0 loss to Northridge. Matt’s pick: Concord 44, Plymouth 11.

Goshen (2-6, 2-4 NLC) at NorthWood (8-0, 6-0 NLC): The No. 3 (Class 4A) Panthers posted a 17-7 win against Goshen a season ago. Elliot Fry was 6-of-16 for 32 yards and rushed 10 times for 44 yards with a touchdown in the RedHawks’ 43-7 loss to Warsaw. Kaden Lone finished with a six-yard reception for a score in NorthWood’s 57-0 blanking of Wawasee. Matt’s pick: NorthWood 47, Goshen 12.

Mishawaka (7-1, 5-1 NLC) at Wawasee (1-7. 1-5 NLC): The No. 5 (Class 5A) Cavemen clubbed Wawasee, 42-7, last year. Chase Gooden raced 13 times for 149 yards for Mishawaka against Concord. Brandon Kelly carried the ball 10 times for 26 yards for the Warriors against NorthWood. Matt’s pick: Mishawaka 40, Wawasee 8.

Warsaw (6-2, 4-2 NLC) at Northridge (5-2, 4-2 NLC): The Tigers roared to a 36-3 win against Northridge a year ago. Drew Sullivan tossed a 44-yard pass and ran five times for 31 yards with a score for Warsaw against Goshen. Jethro Hochstetler caught two passes for 63 yards with a touchdown for the Raiders against Plymouth. Matt’s pick: Northridge 31, Warsaw 28.

DUNELAND CONFERENCE

Crown Point (8-0. 6-0 DAC) at Michigan City (2-6, 2-4 DAC): The Wolves downed No. 6 (Class 6A) Crown Point, 41-28, a season ago. Landen Delich recorded five catches for 100 yards with a touchdown in the Bulldogs’ 41-21 win over Chesterton. Derrick Coleman’s four-yard touchdown run was not enough in Michigan City’s 21-12 loss to LaPorte. Matt’s pick: Crown Point 40, Michigan City 16.

LaPorte (2-6, 2-4 DAC) at Portage (1-7. 0-6 DAC): The Indians were a 35-13 winner against LaPorte last year. Dylan Salisbury passed for 176 yards with a score for the Slicers against Michigan City. Keenan Miller ran 15 times for 70 yards in Portage’s 31-0 loss to Valparaiso. Matt’s pick: LaPorte 28, Portage 15.

Merrillville (7-1, 5-1 DAC) at Chesterton (3-5, 2-4 DAC): The No. 1 (Class 5A) Pirates claimed a 40-6 win over Chesterton last season. Jaylen Thomas threw for 275 yards with a touchdown in Merrillville’s 24-10 win over Lake Central. Sebastian Boswell tossed for 185 yards with a score for the Trojans against Crown Point. Matt’s pick: Merrillville 46, Chesterton 20.

Valparaiso (5-3, 4-2 DAC) at Lake Central (4-4, 3-3 DAC): The No. 9 (Class 5A) Vikings crushed Lake Central, 49-7, a year ago. Thomas Burda rambled 16 times for 79 yards with two scores for Valparaiso against Portage. Xavier Williams accounted for 120 yards on the ground with a touchdown for the Indians against Merrillville. Matt’s pick: Valparaiso 30, Lake Central 14.
