The 2020-21 season started on a solid note as I went 10-1 (91 percent) last week. Here are my thoughts for this week’s contests. Records are from last year unless indicated.

TUESDAY

Bowman Academy (1-1) at Adams (22-4): The No. 10 (Class 4A) Eagles flew past Bowman Academy, 81-74, during the 2008-09 season. Koron Davis came up with 19 points in the Eagles’ 67-63 win over Calumet. Quentez Columbus poured in 246 points a year ago for Adams. Matt’s pick: Adams 75, Bowman Academy 60.

Elkhart (0-0) at Washington (0-1): The Panthers suffered an 80-66 loss to Elkhart during the 1971-72 campaign. Titus Rodgers averaged 12.3 points per game last year for the Lions. Marcus Northern netted 16 points in Washington’s 55-47 loss to Lake Central. Former Elkhart Memorial boss Kyle Sears is the first leader for the newly formed Elkhart club. Matt’s pick: Elkhart 66, Washington 58.

Jimtown (17-8) at Riley (1-0): The Wildcats clipped Jimtown, 58-50, a year ago. Hunter Konrath finished with 38 points for the Jimmies. Jackson Copley tallied 13 points in Riley’s 69-48 win over LaPorte. Matt Stoll takes over for Matt Schauss at Jimtown. Matt’s pick: Riley 71, Jimtown 54.

Marian (21-4) at Goshen (11-12): The No. 4 (Class 3A) Knights edged Goshen, 33-30, last season. Deaglan Sullivan contributed 14.3 points a game for Class 3A sectional champion Marian. Drew Hogan chipped in 16.5 points per contest for the RedHawks. Matt’s pick: Marian 65, Goshen 46.
