The 2020 portion of the schedule ended on a solid note as I went 27-6 (82 percent) last week. Heading into the first week of 2021, my overall record is 89-20, which keeps me at 82 percent for the season.

TUESDAY

Clay (1-7, 0-2 NIC) at Glenn (5-0): The Falcons soared to a 75-61 win over Clay last year. Brad Hicks notched nine points in the Colonials’ 70-44 win over Westville. Carter Yung tallied 16 points in Glenn’s 51-46 overtime win over East Noble. Matt’s pick: Glenn 64, Clay 54.

Elkhart (4-4) at Mishawaka (2-1):  The Cavemen suffered a 68-58 loss to Elkhart during the 1971-72 campaign. Donovan Johnson added 10 points in the Lions’ 66-65 loss to Fort Wayne Snider. Trent Johnson came up with 20 points in Mishawaka’s 78-76 overtime win over Calumet. Matt’s pick: Elkhart 65, Mishawaka 62.

Goshen (3-4) at Marquette Catholic (7-3): The RedHawks slipped past Marquette Catholic, 65-59, in the 2019-20 season. Quinn Bechtel added two points in Goshen’s 59-55 overtime victory at LaVille. Jason Kobe chipped in 12 points in the Blazers’ 63-40 win over Hebron. Matt’s pick: Marquette Catholic 61, Goshen 58.

Michigan City (7-1) at Plymouth (2-7): The Wolves roared to a 60-50 win against Plymouth last season. Tahan Watson drained eight three-pointers and finished with 32 points in Michigan City’s 69-63 win over New Prairie. . Nolan Bales poured in 16 points in the Pilgrims’ 37-35 win over Whitko. Matt’s pick: Michigan City 79, Plymouth 60.

NorthWood (7-1) at New Prairie (6-2): The Cougars edged NorthWood, 44-42, in their previous meeting. Ian Raasch led the Panthers with 14 points in a 54-37 win over Columbia City. Rylan McBride finished with 18 points for New Prairie against Michigan City. Matt’s pick: New Prairie 69, NorthWood 67.

Penn (2-1, 1-0 NIC) at Bremen (3-2, 0-1 NIC): The Kingsmen crowned Bremen, 59-40, a year ago. Casey Shultz had four points in Penn’s 50-34 win at Concord. Dawson Hickman contributed four points in the Lions’ 51-42 loss at No. 9 (Class 2A) Central Noble. Matt’s pick: Penn 58, Bremen 44.

Wawasee (3-3) at Central Noble (6-1): The Warriors downed Central Noble, 63-56, a season ago. Logan Gard delivered 13 points for the Cougars against Bremen. Kam Salazar accounted for five points and eight assists in Wawasee’s 56-52 overtime win over Fairfield. Matt’s pick: Central Noble 66, Wawasee 54.

WEDNESDAY

Prairie Heights (2-7) at Concord (0-4): The Panthers cruised to a 63-34 win against Concord last season. Seth Troyer ended with 26 points in Prairie Heights’ 88-77 loss to Heritage. Payton Fish recorded 19 points in the Minutemen’s 45-39 loss to East Noble. Matt’s pick: Concord 48, Prairie Heights 46.
