CHICAGO, Ill. – Freshman catcher Maddie Leisher and senior center fielder Shelby Baker highlighted the 2022 All-CCAC Softball Team for IU South Bend, as the duo earned the postseason honors announced by the conference on Friday.

Leisher was named the 2022 CCAC Freshman of the Year, the first such award given to a Titan player in program history. Leisher finished the season with a team-high .414 batting average, 10th-best in the CCAC, as the freshman finished among the league’s top ten and led the Titans in hits (55), doubles (12), total bases (78), on-base percentage (.480) and slugging percentage (.586).

The Lizton, Ind. native becomes the fourth IUSB player to earn All-CCAC First Team honors since the program’s debut in 2017.

Baker earns her second career All-CCAC Team honor, becoming just the second player in program history to become a two-time all-conference recipient. The senior backed up last year’s All-CCAC Second Team honor with a .297 batting average in 2022, along with a team-high 25 RBI. Defensively, Baker recorded five outfield assists on the year to lead the team.

As a team, IU South Bend finished with 21 victories, two shy of the program record, and a fourth consecutive CCAC Tournament appearance.
