WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS

Center Grove (12-2): Noah Coy registered four catches for 66 yards to lead the No. 4 Trojans to their third straight Class 6A state championship with a 35-9 win over No. 5 Carroll (Fort Wayne).

East Central (13-2): Eli Ashton scampered five times for 114 yards with a touchdown and caught three passes for 45 yards in the No. 4 Trojans’ 37-7 win over No. 6 New Prairie in the Class 4A final.

Evansville Mater Dei (12-3): Mitch Alder racked up 10 tackles in the No. 6 Wildcats’ 20-10 win over No. 5 and defending state champion Andrean in the Class 2A finale.

Indianapolis Bishop Chatard (11-4): Jasper Chapman booted a pair of 37-yard field goals and four extra-points in the No. 6 Trojans’ 34-14 triumph over No. 9 Lawrenceburg for the Class 3A state title.

Indianapolis Lutheran (15-0): Cameron McHaney recorded 12 tackles as the top-ranked and defending Class 1A state champion Saints made it two titles in a row with a 30-13 win over No. 2 Adams Central.

Valparaiso (11-3): Rocco Micciche’s 11-yard touchdown reception with 15 seconds left lifted the No. 9 Vikings to a 35-31 win over No. 2 Whiteland for the Class 5A state crown.

SECOND BEST

Adams Central (14-1): Trevor Currie came up with two receptions for 50 yards for the Flying Jets against Indianapolis Lutheran.

Andrean (10-4): Jacob Jones caught five passes for 51 yards with a score for the 59ers against Evansville Mater Dei.

Carroll (Fort Wayne (13-1): Jorge Valdes racked up 15 tackles for the Chargers against Center Grove.

Lawrenceburg (13-2): Jake Pierce managed 11 tackles for the Tigers against Indianapolis Bishop Chatard.

New Prairie (13-2): Hayden Scott registered 11 tackles for the Cougars against East Central.

Whiteland (12-2): Jordan Palmer finished with 12 tackles for the Warriors against Valparaiso.

MATT’S MATCHUPS FINAL

A 4-2 (67 percent) mark in the state finals left me with a final record of 185-50, which was good for 79 percent for the 2022 campaign.
