IWU Takes Fourth-Straight Crossroads League All-Sports Trophy
AVON, Ohio – Indiana Wesleyan claimed the Crossroads League All-Sports Championship for the recently completed 2020-2021 year, taking the honor for a fourth-straight year, the 20th time since 2000 and the 25th time in school history.
IWU won regular season Crossroads League Championships in men’s and women’s tennis, volleyball, men’s basketball, baseball, softball and competitive cheer during the 2020-2021 year. The Wildcats added second-place showings in men’s soccer, women’s basketball, women’s golf and men’s and women’s outdoor track and field. In all, Indiana Wesleyan saw 16 of its 18 teams that compete in the Crossroads League finish among the top-three in the league standings.
“After an incredibly challenging year, I am so proud of our student-athletes and coaches for winning the Crossroads League All-Sports Championship,” stated Hannah Miller, who served as Indiana Wesleyan’s interim director of athletics throughout the 2020-2021 year. “Their commitment to excellence in all areas has resulted in this athletic recognition.”
The Wildcats claimed their 19th All-Sports Trophy in the past 20 years by picking up 159.5 points in the standings to top Marian by 19.0 points for the top spot. IWU also held off Marian for the men’s and women’s All-Sports Championships.
Points for the Crossroads League All-Sports Championship are awarded based on each team’s finish in the regular season standings, or for a team’s finish at the league championship event for the sports of cross country, golf, track and field and competitive cheer. A first-place finish earns 10 points, with nine points for second, eight for third and so on, until each team is given a point value.
