SOUTH BEND, Ind. – IU South Bend matched the all-time program record with their eighth consecutive win on Tuesday night, as the Titans took care of the Roosevelt Lakers in straight sets, 25-14, 25-19, 26-24.

Hannah Marchand led the offense once again, scoring 17 kills in the win, including nine in the first set alone. McKenzie Powell registered 33 assists, while Amber Jacobs scored 11 kills with seven digs. Libero Suriya Van der Oord picked up 12 digs to lead the IUSB defense.

The Titans (15-3, 11-0 CCAC) jumped out to a big early lead in the opening set, scoring ten straight points – six coming from kills by Marchand – to build a 13-4 advantage. Another 7-1 run later in the set allowed the Titans to pull away at 21-8, on their way to the opening game win.

Roosevelt (2-17, 0-9 CCAC) battled back in game two, scoring three straight midway through the set to take a 17-13 lead. Back-to-back kills from Marchand started a 6-1 rally that also included two straight kills from Jacobs, putting the Titans back in front, 19-18. A Laker kill briefly tied the set, but IU South Bend would score the final six points of the set to take a two-set lead in the match.

The most competitive portion of the match came in game three, with eight lead changes throughout the set. Trailing 19-18, the Titans would score four in a row on Roosevelt errors to move back in front, 22-19. A kill from Jacobs put the home team ahead 23-20, but the Lakers would respond with four of the next five to even the score at 24-24. Marchand would end the night, scoring two more kills on the final two plays to give the Titans their eleventh straight win in conference play, and their eighth straight overall.

The Titans will have an opportunity to set a new win-streak record on Saturday, when they compete in a tri-match at Lincoln College. IUSB takes on Lincoln in a CCAC match at noon, before taking on No. 4 Missouri Baptist in a non-conference battle later in the afternoon.
