IUSB Women’s Basketball Signs Kylee Stepp for 2020-21 Season
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Indiana University South Bend women’s basketball head coach Steve Bruce and his staff are growing the talent of their incoming 2021-22 recruiting class, adding standout Kylee Stepp from West Vigo High School in West Terra Haute, Ind.
“I am very excited that Kylee chose IU South Bend to pursue her degree and her dream of playing college basketball,” commented Bruce. “She is a skilled perimeter player with very good length and has a nice feel for the game. She’s a great fit for our program.”
Stepp travels to South Bend as a four-year varsity letter winner starting for the West Vigo Vikings since she was a freshman. During her freshman year, the 6’0′ guard received the “Newcomer” award for her excellent skills and her contribution to the team. While wearing the Viking jersey, Stepp earned the “Free Throw Percentage” award and was named WIC All-Conference in 2020. After the February 2, 2020 semi-final sectional game, Kylee was named “Player of the Week.”
During the 2019-20 season, Stepp averaged 11.8 ppg, 4.6 rpg, and almost three assists a game during her junior debut. Kylee is looking forward to her senior year at West Vigo before becoming a Titan.
“I chose IUSB because of the family atmosphere it has,” says Stepp. “When I stepped onto campus it felt like a home away from home. I’m so excited to see what the future holds for me as a Titan while being on a great team with great coaches for the next four years!”
The success continues into the classroom for Kylee Stepp collecting multiple academic awards. She has received Academic Honors as well as the Academic Excellence award. Stepp is an active member of the Link Crew, a student leadership program that focuses on turning upperclassmen into mentors for incoming freshman. Besides basketball and school, Kylee invests her time into the Big Brother, Big Sister program as a mentor.
As of right now, the practice and competition schedule for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) women’s basketball season will continue as planned with proper precautions being made following the latest health and safety guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic. The announcement of the 2020-21 schedule will be released at a later date.
