IUSB Women’s Basketball Signs Bailey Stamper to Incoming 2021-22 Class

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Indiana University South Bend head women’s basketball coach Steve Bruce and his staff have added an important piece to the 2021-22 recruiting class, varsity standout Bailey Stamper from Triton Central High School.

“Bailey comes from a great high school program at Triton Central,” commented Bruce. “She brings an athletic presence at the five spot, including the ability to step outside the arc and be an accurate shooter. Her ‘Teamness’ and leadership skills reflect the high character person that she is.”
With four years of varsity experience under her belt, Stamper also has some impressive hardware. Stamper and the Triton Central Tigers have captured three Shelby County Championships and Sectional Championships including a regional title and an undefeated 2019-20 regular-season. The Tigers winning streak was ended by a heart-breaking loss to Linton-Stockton in the State Semifinals. She led the county and the sectional in total number of blocks with 57 in a season averaging close to 2.3 blocks a game. As a junior, she received the “Mental Attitude” Award and was named “Most Improved” her freshman and sophomore year.
With many athletic achievements to her name, Stamper carries the persistent mentality over to her academics holding a handful of titles, awards, and certifications. She is a member of Skills USA and the Indiana HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) as well as the treasurer for HOSA fundraisers. Stamper is certified in CPR, “Stop the Bleed”, and in Dementia Care as of March, 2020. She is also a certified nursing assistant (CAN) as of July 15, 2020.
“I choose IU South Bend because of the family atmosphere,” said Stamper. “I felt welcomed by the coaches and I’m so excited to continue my academic and athletic career as a Titan.”
As of right now, the practice and competition schedule for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) women’s basketball season will continue as planned with proper precautions being made following the latest health and safety guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic. The announcement of the 2020-21 schedule will be released at a later date.
