SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Indiana University South Bend volleyball snapped its two-game losing skid with a nail-biting, come-from-behind, five-set victory over Cardinal Stritch Saturday afternoon, March 27.

The Titans clipped the Wolves 12-25, 25-16, 25-12, 20-25, and 15-13 to move to 10-5 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

With the win, IU South Bend moved into a fourth place tie with Cardinal Stritch in the CCAC standings with just two games remaining in the regular-season. After dropping their season opener at home back on Feb. 24, the Titans have now won their last six at home to improve to 6-1 overall inside the Student Activities Center.

Senior Hannah Marchand led the Titan attack, notching 14 kills while Julie Brown and Alexis Issette added 13 and 12, respectively. As a team, IUSB knocked a season-high 55 kills off 171 attempts (.211) while the Wolves attacked at a .169 clip with 62 kills off 189 attempts.

IU South Bend held the slight advantages in aces, 4-3, and blocks, 12-6 digs, while the Wolves added more assists, 59-51, and more digs, 82-81, than the Titans.

Marchand led the Crimson & Cream in blocks (6) and aces (2) on the day while Jacobs collected a team-high 19 digs. Junior McKenzie Powell dished out a game-high 47 assists, which accounted for IUSB’s 51 total assists.

After a sluggish start in the first, IU South Bend evened the match at one all with a 25-16 victory after rattling off a 13-1 run in the second. The Titans went ahead 2-1 with another dominate performance in the third frame, outscoring the Wolves 25-12 before Stritch bounced back with a 25-20 fourth to force a deciding fifth set.

In the final stanza, IUSB outscored CSU 3-1 down the stretch that helped the titans take the 15-13 victory, completing the CCAC victory and evening up with the Wolves in the conference standings.

The Titans hit the road one last time before the conference tournament, travelling to Chicago, Ill. to face Roosevelt on Tuesday, March 30 at 8 p.m. IUSB goes for seven straight at home on Thursday, April 1 as its hosts Calumet St. Joseph to conclude the regular-season. First serve inside the SAC is slated for 7 p.m.
