SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Four new signings for IU South Bend men’s basketball, including an incoming All-CCAC Team selection highlights the current crop of newcomers for the Titans leading into the 2022-23 campaign.
Dejon Barney

Lincoln College | Riley HS | South Bend, Ind.
Barney returns to his hometown after two seasons at Lincoln (Ill.), where he helped lead the Lynx to 16 wins last season and the school’s only appearance in the CCAC Tournament championship game. Barney averaged 14.2 points and 10.5 rebounds while shooting over 60% from the floor in 2022, and was named an All-CCAC honorable mention. Before his time at Lincoln, Barney took Riley HS to a 44-6 conference record and an IHSAA regional title as a member of the Wildcats.
Ryan Chew

Alter HS | Dayton, Ohio
Chew was a four-time All-Greater Catholic League selection at Alter HS, finishing his career as a 1,000-point scorer for the Knights. During his senior season, Chew averaged 13.6 points and a league-high 5.4 assists per game while shooting 35% from three-point range. Chew led his team to a 25-3 record last season, claiming conference, sectional, district, and regional titles to reach the Ohio state semifinals and earning All-State honorable mention recognition.
Nick Mullen

Chesterton HS | Chesterton, Ind.
A 2019 graduate of Chesterton HS, Mullen joins the Trojans after serving as a varsity assistant coach for the Knights, helping his alma mater to a 29-1 record and IHSAA state finals appearance last season. As a player Mullen led Chesterton to a 21-7 mark in 2019, and the school’s first sectional title in over 30 years. Mullen averaged over 1.5 blocks per game and shot over 40% from beyond the arc during his senior season.
Ryan Paris

Davidson HS | Hillyard, Ohio
Paris was a three-time all-district selection and a three-time All-Ohio Capital Conference pick, including First Team honors as a senior. Averaging 13.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists, Paris helped lead the Wildcats to an 16-8 record and sectional championship during his senior season last year. Paris shot 40% from three-point range and 85% from the free throw line, finishing his high school career among the all-time leaders in program history.
