The Titans dug themselves in a hole, allowing four runs in the first two innings as the Cougars scattered three in the first and an insurance one in the second. After both teams added a run in the third, IU South Bend add six runs off two hits in the fourth to take the two-run lead, 7-5.

Senior Jack Schaffer got the inning started after drawing a walk and was brought home with a Connor Wise sacrifice bunt. Other runs for the Crimson and Cream occurred from Taj Abdur-Rahman, Wise, Colin Mack, and Jordan Moore.

St. Francis responded with three more runs occuring in the fourth, fifth and six frames while an RBI single from Nolan Unger in the top of the fifth evened things up through six at 8-8.
