MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan football will have a new head coach in 2023, as Jordan Langs has accepted a NCAA D1 Assistant Coaching position. Jordan Langs was named the program’s inaugural head coach in 2016, and quickly developed Wildcat football into one of the best in the country in their five seasons of competition.

“Jordan, his staff, and his players have achieved incredible success in the six years since he was hired to build our football program,” said Dean Webb, Athletic Director. “I can only imagine the challenges that came with that task. We are all thankful, not only for the success achieved by our teams, but for a foundation on which future successes can be built. I believe that Jordan is an outstanding young coach that will find success at each step along his journey, and we pray the best for him and his family as he follows God’s leading to his next coaching opportunity.”

During his time at IWU, Langs has led the Wildcats to 33 wins, compiling an overall record of 33-15 (.688), while posting a record of 16-9 in Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast play. He was also named the MSFA Mideast Coach of the Year in 2021 and 2022. The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) selected Langs to the 35 under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute in 2019, and he was named the AFCA NAIA Region 2 Coach of the Year this season.

Six years ago we were called to accomplish the weighty task of building a program from scratch and compete in the toughest conference in NAIA Football,” said Langs. “Thank you to Mark DeMichael, Dr. David Wright, Dr. Keith Newman and many more for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. We are very sad to leave so many players and people that we love, but we are excited about the opportunity to follow the Lord’s will. We are forever indebted to the Indiana Wesleyan community and IWU will always have our love and prayers! GO WILDCATS!”

Langs coached eight NAIA All-Americans, 33 MSFA Mideast All-Conference First Team recipients, 19 MSFA Mideast All-Conference Second Team members, 12 MSFA Mideast All-Conference Honorable Mention selections, two MSFA Mideast Offensive Player of the Year winners. Langs established excellence in the classroom as well with 89 MSFA All-Academic honorees and one CoSIDA Academic All-American.

Indiana Wesleyan saw its highest level of success on the field in 2022, after winning the programs first MFSA Conference Championship with an undefeated 7-0 conference record. Their two postseason victories earned them a birth in the semifinal round of the NAIA Football Championship Series. The team also held a national ranking of No. 5 in the NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll from Oct. 10 through the end of the season.

“Part of having a great foundation in place is the program being attractive to both future players and coaches,” said Webb. “With the #1 NAIA athletic program, arguably the best NAIA football facility in the country, and a Christ centered institution, we believe this program is poised to have great success in the future.”

A national search for the Wildcats next head football coach will begin immediately.
