Hubbard, Hahn Lead Trojans in Loss at Indiana Northwest

GARY, Ind. – Jason Hubbard and Aaron Hahn teamed for 45 of Taylor’s 63 points on Friday at Indiana Northwest but the Trojans fell by a 64-63 margin in a game that featured 12 lead changes and eight ties.

Hubbard netted 21 points in the opening half and finished 10-of-19 from the field for 29 points on the night, while adding 13 rebounds and two steals. Hahn went six-of-six from the floor and recorded a career-high 16 points to go with two steals.

Jeff Clayton chipped in with seven rebounds and Kaden Fuhrmann added seven points.

Taylor shot well once again, going 48.9 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from three-point territory, but was again haunted by turnovers. The Trojans gave the ball up 19 times and were outscored by a 22-12 gap in points off turnovers.

The game was tightly contested throughout, with Taylor trailing 35-34 at the half. IU Northwest (1-0) scored the first five of the second to open its largest lead of the game, but Taylor drew even at 40-40 with back-to-back treys from Jackson Lewis and Hahn.

No team led by more than three from there until a Fuhrmann triple gave Taylor a 57-53 edge with 6:36 showing on the clock.

The hosts countered by rattling off an 11-3 spurt over the next four-plus minutes to go up 64-60 with 2:52 remaining in the affair.

Taylor held the Red Hawks scoreless the rest of the way but could only manage three points in that time and suffered the one-point defeat.

TU (0-2) will be right back at it on Saturday, October 30, with a 4:00 pm start at Governors State (1-2).
