SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Coming off an NAIA Tournament appearance last March, IU South Bend women’s basketball and head coach Steve Bruce have added the second addition to next year’s squad in Francisca Galicia.
Galicia comes to IUSB following a two-year career at Washington HS, where she helped lead the Panthers to the first of two straight appearances at the IHSAA state finals during her senior season of 2020-21.
“Francisca was out of basketball last year, and is excited to be back playing again,” said Bruce. “She started her career as a junior under [Washington HS head coach] Steve Reynolds, and made great strides during her senior year. We are looking forward to seeing Fran grow as a player, and excited to have her join our Titan family.”
Galicia becomes the second newcomer to the IUSB lineup, following Tia Chambers’ signing earlier this month.
“I chose IUSB because of the family atmosphere,” said Galicia. “I felt welcomed by the coaches, and I’m so excited to continue my academic and athletic career as a Titan!”
IU South Bend comes off a 25-8 record last season, and back-to-back 25-win campaigns. The Titans qualified for their first NAIA Tournament berth since 2005, and returns four of five regular starters from last year.
