GAINES JOINS 1,000 POINT CLUB

Notre Dame, Ind. Jordan Gaines scored his 1,000th career point this evening as the Holy Cross College men’s basketball team defeated East West University 84-80 at home. The senior recorded 14 points, while going 6/11 from the field in the win. Going into the game, Gaines had 992, and now sits at 1,006 career points. He is the fifth men’s basketball player to reach this milestone.

Gaines, from Cincinnati, Ohio, is averaging 14.3 points per game this season, while shooting 58% from the field. For his career with the Saints, he is averaging 10.1 points and 3.1 assists. With Gaines on the court, Holy Cross has averaged 22 wins a season while being ranked in the top-2 in the nation each year in scoring defense allowed. Last season, Gaines was named Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Gaines has guided the Saints to a 6-2 start and 2-0 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference for the 2020-2021 season. Men’s basketball is also receiving votes nationally in the NAIA polls.

Holy Cross will be back in CCAC action on Wednesday, January 20 when they travel to Olivet Nazarene University for a 7:00pm tip.
