French Named Taylor’s Female Athlete of the Year

UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor French added one more honor to her historic 2020-2021 senior campaign with the Taylor women’s golf program, being named the Taylor Female Athlete of the Year on Wednesday.

The award is designed to recognize TU’s top female student-athlete among freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors based on athletic accomplishments throughout the current year. Athletes are nominated for the award by their head coach and voted on by members of the TU Athletics Department.

“Taylor has been such a joy to coach during her time at TU,” said head women’s and men’s golf coach Cameron Andry. “She is an incredible player who has that special ability to bring her best in the biggest moments, but just as impactful for our program has been her willingness to love and serve her teammates well. Taylor’s competitive spirit provided a crucial spark for our team and she was instrumental in leading our team to the greatest season in Taylor women’s golf program history.”

French was a key cog for the Trojans throughout their run to a fourth-straight Crossroads League Championship and a historic runner-up finish at the NAIA National Championships this season. The O’Fallon, Missouri native won the Crossroads League Individual Championship in dominant fashion with a seven-shot lead, before taking 10th place at the NAIA National Championships.

French received plenty of honors after finishing top-10 in 13 events this season and closing the year with six-straight top-five showings, before taking 10th at Nationals. In addition to setting TU’s single-round scoring record with a four-under 68 in the second round of the CL Championship, French was named an All-Crossroads League and NAIA Second-Team All-American standout.
