Young Named Assistant Athletics Director

UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor University Athletics Director, Kyle Gould, announced that Natalie Young has been hired as Assistant Athletics Director for Taylor Athletics.

“I am very excited to have Natalie transition to this very important role within our Athletics Department,” said Gould. “Her time as a member of our women’s basketball coaching staff and her time at Bethel University have prepared her to take this next step in her career. I look forward to Natalie contributing to the success of our entire department moving forward.”

Young transitions into the role after serving as an assistant coach for the TU women’s basketball program over the past three years. Prior to coming to Upland, Young worked as an assistant coach at Bethel University for five years, while also serving as the school’s Sports Information Director.

“I am extremely grateful to Athletics Director Kyle Gould and the Taylor University administration for giving me the opportunity to step into this role within the athletics department,” said Young. “It has been a pleasure to work alongside the talented and passionate Taylor coaches for the last three years and I am looking forward to serving both the coaches and student-athletes as Assistant Athletics Director.”

Young graduated from Bethel in 2008 with a degree in business administration and added a sports studies degree in 2011. During her time at Bethel, Young became the all-time leading scorer in the Crossroads League with 2,685 points and earned a trio of NAIA All-American honors. Following the conclusion of her playing career for the Pilots, Young was inducted into the Bethel Athletics Hall of Fame and her No. 20 jersey was retired.

The success followed Young to Upland, where she helped guide the Trojans to NAIA National Tournament appearances in each of her three seasons serving as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball program. In her time on the bench, TU posted an 84-20 record, won a Crossroads League Championship, advanced to the NAIA Elite Eight and set numerous program records.

Young replaces Jess Fankhauser, who resigned from the position in February.
