Flyers’ Farmer, Hounds’ Bailey Sweep GLVC, National Weekly Honors
INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) men’s and women’s cross country seasons opened in style this past Friday as Lewis University freshman Anthony Farmer and University of Indianapolis senior Lauren Bailey were recognized for their efforts as both GLVC and U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Runner of the Week, the Conference announced Tuesday.

MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Anthony Farmer, Lewis
Fr., Elgin, Illinois
Team Result: 1st of 3 Teams, 34 pts, GLVC Triangular (Indianapolis, Southern Indiana)
• Scored a victory in his collegiate debut with a 6,000-meter time of 18 minutes, 41.4 seconds
• Bested runner-up teammate by eight seconds to help defeat defending GLVC Champion Southern Indiana, 34-41.
• Earns program’s first-ever national weekly honor and GLVC’s first men’s honor since Oct. 9, 2018 (Austin Nolan, USI)
• Earns first career GLVC Runner of the Week award
• Last Lewis Runner of the Week: James Frederickson (9/19/17)

WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Lauren Bailey, Indianapolis
Sr., Westfield, Indiana
Team Result: 2nd of 3 Teams, 35 pts, GLVC Triangular (Lewis, Southern Indiana)

• Finished first by 59 seconds with a 5,000-meter time of 17 minutes, 1.7 seconds
• Effort bested her personal record by 21 seconds and lowered the course record by 10 seconds
• Earns program’s first-ever national weekly honor and GLVC’s first women’s honor since Sept. 24, 2019 (Elysia Burgos, SBU)
• Earns fourth career GLVC Runner of the Week award (9/5/18, 10/9/18, 10/15/19, 9/29/20)
• Last Indianapolis Runner of the Week: Lauren Bailey (10/15/19)
