Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | October 18-24

 

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top athletes from October 18 through 24. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.

Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Ana Collar, Indiana Wesleyan

Collar had the hot hand in a pair of wins for No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan, posting 5.2 kills, 3.7 digs, 1.2 blocks and 0.3 aces per set for the Wildcats. The senior hit .435 on the week and posted double-doubles in each contest.

Volleyball Defender of the Week
Paige Thibault, Indiana Wesleyan

Thibault averaged 5.8 digs per set in No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan’s sweeps of No. 18 Taylor and Saint Xavier. The libero posted 35 digs in the two wins, with 22 coming in the win over SXU.

Volleyball Setter of the Week
Olivia Zawadzki, Indiana Wesleyan

Zawadzki posted 13.2 assists, 3.0 digs and 0.5 aces per set to help No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan post wins over No. 18 Taylor and Saint Xavier. Zawadzki’s best showing came via a 45-assist, 12-dig, two-ace double-double against SXU.

Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Sarah Foulk, Indiana Wesleyan
Foulk struck for four goals in No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan’s 7-0 victory over Saint Francis. Foulk took eight total shots in the contest.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Bethany Blackwood, Grace

Blackwood collected five saves in net and posted a shutout in Grace’s 1-0 road win at Taylor.

 

Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Martim Cardoso, Grace
Cardoso scored both goals in Grace’s 2-0 victory over Taylor. The junior forward now leads the Lancers with nine goals this season.

Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Matteo Conci, Grace
Conci kept Taylor off the scoreboard in a 2-0 victory for Grace for his fifth shutout of the season. The sophomore keeper posted two saves in the outing.

 

Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

Shelby Christman, Huntington

Christman finished third-of-226 at the Great Lakes Invite, turning in a time of 17:38 to lead all Crossroads League competitors at the event for No. 19 Huntington.

 

Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

Haile Stutzman, Huntington

Stutzman posted a personal-best time of 24:16 to top a field of 239 runners at the Great Lakes Invite, leading No. 11 Huntington to a fifth-place showing out of 27 teams.

 

Women’s Bowler of the Week

Hannah Vaughn, Mount Vernon Nazarene

Vaughn took first place at the OBC Tournament, leading MVNU by breaking her own school record with a score of 241.

 

Men’s Bowler of the Week

Wilson Keene, Bethel

Keene led Bethel with 805 total pins at the Lynne Jordan Memorial Classic, averaging a 161.0 at the event and posting a game-high of 168.
