Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | November 22-28

 

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top athletes from November 22 through 28. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.

 

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Maggie Coblentz, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Coblentz drained all 11 of her field goal attempts in No. 23 MVNU’s eight-point win at Saint Francis, scoring 25 points in just 14 minutes during the 67-59 victory. The junior scored 19 points in the second half and added five rebounds in the victory.

 

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Frankie Davidson, Grace
Davidson repeated as the CL’s player of the week, leading RV and unbeaten Grace to an 85-59 victory over No. 11 Marian with 35 points, seven rebounds and one block. The sophomore forward shot 13-of-19 from the floor and was five-of-seven from deep, helping GC to its best start since 1991-1992

 

Women’s Bowler of the Week
Tandess O’Neal, Marian

O’Neal picked up another weekly honor from the Crossroads League, this time for pacing Marian with a sixth-place individual finish at the Collegiate Team Match Games. O’Neal bowled a 1,252 over six games, averaging 208.7 pins per game.

 

Men’s Bowler of the Week
Derek Leyba, Huntington

Leyba finished third-of-121 bowlers at the Collegiate Team Match Games to lead Huntington at the event. The sophomore averaged 219.8 pins per game and collected a six-game total of 1,319 pins.
