Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | Dec. 28 – Jan. 3
AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from December 28 through January 3. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners.
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Ella Collier, Marian
Collier sparked No. 9 Marian’s win over Saint Francis with a 29-point effort to set MU’s single-game freshman scoring record. Collier shot nine-of-12 in the contest and closed the week shooting 73.7 percent and netting 20.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in a pair of Knight victories.
Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Jason Hubbard, Taylor
Hubbard scored at least 20 points and collected two double-doubles to help Taylor to a trio of victories. The junior forward also averaged a double-double on the week with 23.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 blocks per game, while shooting 53.3 percent from the floor for the Trojans.
