Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | August 23-29

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top athletes from August 23 through 29. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.
Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Amanda Adams, Taylor
Adams remained locked in at the net for Taylor, repeating as the CL’s Attacker of the Week by hitting .317 with 4.7 kills per set over three Trojan victories. In the three matches, Adams registered 56 kills, 32 digs and four service aces.

Volleyball Defender of the Week
Ellie Ruby, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Ruby was a backrow force for MVNU in its four road wins, piling up 90 digs and averaging 6.0 digs per set in those outings. The senior libero eclipsed the 20-dig mark in all but one match, including a 29-dig gem in a four-set victory against Concordia.

Volleyball Setter of the Week
Kacy Bragg, Taylor
Bragg helped Taylor to a 3-0 showing at its home tournament, handing out 132 assists and recording a trio of double-double performances. On the week, Bragg averaged 44.0 assists, 11.7 digs, 4.0 kills and 1.0 blocks per match.

Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Madison Deckard, Marian
Deckard recorded the first collegiate hat trick of her career to highlight a 9-0 victory over Saint Xavier for No. 4 Marian.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Claire Massey, Taylor
Massey helped hold the Asbury attack without a shot in Taylor’s 6-0 victory and contributed on the offensive side the ball by punching in the first two goals of her career.

Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Higor Barbieri, Huntington
Barbieri led Huntington to a 4-0 win against Siena Heights and a 6-3 victory against Michigan Dearborn. The sophomore put in three goals and added an assist to fuel the high-powered Forester attack.

Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Joshua Dunn, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Dunn picked up a pair of wins in the net for Mount Vernon Nazarene, logging nine total saves and allowing just two goals in MVNU’s victories against Shawnee State and Rochester.

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Lydia Ruegsegger, Grace
Ruegsegger scored wins at the top singles and doubles spot for Grace in her collegiate debut, helping the Lancers to a 7-0 victory against Bethel.

Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Mateo Ameller, Huntington
Ameller picked up wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles to help Huntington grab a 4-0 victory against RV Marian. The junior finished the week with a 2-0 mark for the Foresters.
