Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | April 26-May 2

 

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top athletes from April 26 through May 2. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.

Softball Player of the Week
Shelbie Stotts, Marian
Stotts highlighted No. 12 Marian’s 6-0 week by hitting .600 with six extra-base hits, 14 runs batted in, eight runs scored and two steals.

 

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Sheridan Sullivan, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Sullivan picked up three wins in the circle for MVNU, yielding only four earned runs over 19 innings and striking out 25 batters.

 

Baseball Player of the Week
Daniel Lichty, Huntington
Lichty led Huntington to a 6-1 week by hitting .357 with five home runs and 12 runs batted in. The senior also walked seven times and scored 12 runs for the Foresters.

 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Andrew Noelker, Marian
Noelker fired a complete game in Marian’s 8-1 win over RV Taylor, tossing six strikeouts and allowing only three hits. The outing was Noelker’s second-straight complete game effort for the Knights.

 

Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Runner of the Week
Gracious O’Connor, Grace
O’Connor broke Grace’s school record on her home track with a time of 12.01 to win the 100-meters. The freshman also helped the Lancers claim first in the 4×400-meter relay.

 

Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Janae Moffitt, Indiana Wesleyan
Moffitt turned in the best mark in the NAIA this season to win the high jump at the Lancer Invite with a height of 1.72 meters.

 

Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Runner of the Week
Steven Ott, Indiana Wesleyan
Ott scored wins in the 800 meters and 1,500 meters for Indiana Wesleyan at the Lancer Invite.

 

Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Jacob Gerber, Goshen
Gerber won the hammer throw at the Lancer Invite with a toss of 58.57 meters to hit the NAIA A standard and record the third-best distance in the NAIA this season.

 

Men’s Golfer of the Week
Sean Vann, Spring Arbor
Vann carded three-straight rounds of sub-75 scores to win the individual Crossroads League Championship. Vann’s efforts helped Spring Arbor take third place in the team standings.
