Castulo “Junior” Perez Named Head Men’s Soccer Coach at IU Northwest

GARY, Ind. — Indiana University Northwest Director of Athletics Ryan Shelton has named Castulo “Junior” Perez as the next head coach for the men’s soccer program. Perez joins IU Northwest after serving as an assistant coach this past season for the RedHawks.

“We are excited to have Coach Perez leading our men’s soccer program. He is highly respected and brings instant credibility to our program and had strong ties to recruiting in Northwest Indiana high schools and club programs,” Shelton said. “He values academic success and the student-athlete experience which has been successful in each of his coaching stops. We look forward to our programs success under his leadership.”

Prior to joining the sidelines at IU Northwest, Perez was the Head Coach for the Griffith High School Boys’ Soccer program where he was for four seasons.

“I am excited to be named head coach and the opportunity,” Perez said. “My goal is to make us a competitive and respectable program and pick up where we left off.”

Before Griffith, Perez served eight years at his alma mater, East Chicago Central High School as their Head Coach for Boys’ Soccer.

“I absolutely loved my time as a High School Coach and would not trade it for the world,” Perez said. “Throughout the years I have been able to work with all kinds of players with various skills, attributes and mentalities and I hope that it will help me in this new endeavor.”

“Our plans the next few weeks are to try and recruit some quality local players to be able to showcase what NWI Soccer has to offer.”

Perez currently resides in Munster, Indiana with his wife Katy and their two children.

IU Northwest is a proud member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC).
