GREENVILLE, SC – The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) is honored to announce Mark Goetsch, Christopher Hess, and Chris Lahm will be inducted into the NCCAA Hall of Fame as members of the Class of 2022.

Christopher Hess has served at Bethel University (formerly Bethel College) for over 27 years in a variety of roles and currently serves as Associate Athletic Director and Head Women’s Golf Coach. Through the years, Hess has made 52 trips to National Tournaments (36 as a head coach and 16 as an assistant), and most recently lead the Pilots in capturing the 2021 NCCAA Women’s Golf National Championship. Hess has coached 22 NCCAA All-Americans, 6 NCCAA Scholar-Teams, and has received numerous Regional, Conference, and National Coach of the Year honors. Hess has directly served the NCCAA in multiple ways, including as Men’s Golf Chair/Vice Chair for four years and Women’s Golf Chair for five years and counting.

Hess’ greatest strengths have always been his humble service and his mentoring of student-athletes. He has deeply impacted an untold number of student-athletes across a variety of sports, including athletes in sports he has never coached.

“I am extremely humbled and honored for this recognition by an organization that I fell in love with as a student-athlete 34 years ago,” said Hess. “I am a product of God’s grace and blessing and I’m just very thankful that He has provided me with an amazing place like Bethel to serve Him all these years.”

“I’ve been so fortunate to coach so many amazing young women and men and coach alongside incredible people! Together, these student-athletes and coaches have impacted my life in such a powerful way. The extra “C” in the NCCAA is so significant because Christ is the reason that I am who I am and do what I do, and I give Him all the glory and honor!”

Goetsch, Hess, and Lahm will officially be inducted at the Hall of Fame Dinner on June 2, 2022 during the NCCAA Annual Convention being held in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Hess joins Homer Drew, Jody Martinez, Mike Lightfoot, and Tony Natali as representatives of Bethel University in the NCCAA Hall of Fame.

The purpose of the Hall of Fame Award is to recognize individuals who have given outstanding leadership and/or service to the NCCAA. Individuals should have high moral character and Christian integrity; presently be making a positive contribution by serving the Lord and society; and maintain a continued interest in Christian higher education and intercollegiate athletics.
