PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) North Central Region released its Player and Coach of the Year Awards, as well as the All-Region Team, and five Pilots earned recognition on the list.

 

Jose BarquinMatheus SantiagoTim Noeding all earned First Team All-Region honors, while Willian dos Santos earned Second Team All-Region honors. Barquin was also named the North Central Region Player of the Year and Head Coach Thiago Pinto was named the North Central Region Coach of the Year.

 

Barquin recorded 14 goals and 5 assists this season, leading the team with 61 shots and four game-winning goals. He ranked third in the Crossroads League and 13th in the NAIA in total goals and third in the League and 17th in the NAIA in total points. The senior also ranked 11th in the NAIA in total game-winning goals. Barquin finished his career in the top ten in program history in career goals and career points this season.

 

Santiago led the Pilots with 16 goals and 36 points, adding 4 assists this season. He tied for the Crossroads League lead and ranked eighth in the NAIA in total goals scored and ranked second in the League and 14th in the NAIA in total points. The junior recorded a pair of hat tricks as well as a pair of braces this season.

 

Noeding recorded 4 goals and a Crossroads League-leading 11 assists this season. The freshman ranked sixth in the NAIA in total assists and recorded multiple assists in two games as well as scoring a brace in his first collegiate game.

 

Dos Santos recorded 1 goal this season—a game-winning goal—and anchored a defense that allowed just 1.630 goals against average. Dos Santos started in 16 of 17 games played.

 

Pinto has led the Pilots to a 13-5-1 record thus far, including a Crossroads League regular season championship and an NCCAA National Tournament runner-up finish. They begin their quest in the NAIA National Championship with an Opening Round match on Thursday.
