Badgers take back Columbus in series finale

UW nets key 3-1 win over Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio — With two power-play goals, Wisconsin men’s hockey (5-5-0, 5-3-0-0-1-0 Big Ten) came back strong Friday evening defending their first period lead over the Buckeyes (2-4-0, 1-4-0-0-1-0 Big Ten) for a 3-1 series finish in Columbus.

Sophomore Cole Caufield put Wisconsin on the board first with a seeing-eye wrist shot from just inside the blue line at 14:18 in the first. Juniors Jesper Peltonen and Jack Gorniak helped set up the play.

Ohio State tied it up halfway through the second, but not for long thanks to junior Brock Caufield.

With 6:41 to go in the second, Cole Caufield and Gorniak teed up Brock Caufield for a one-timer from the slot.

Gorniak took his turn on the power play in the third for the Badgers, finishing off a tic-tac-toe pass play with 13:47 left for a 3-1 final.
