Allen Named CCAC Player of the Week

CHICAGO – For the first time this season the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday that Indiana University South Bend men’s basketball senior Dylan Allen has been named CCAC Player of the Week.

Last week Allen averaged 19.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, one assist and one steal in two games and shot a staggering 50 percent from the field and 91.7 percent from the free-throw line en route to Titan victories over Trinity Christian and Bellevue (RV).

The CCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor is the first time any IU South Bend men’s basketball player received the nod since Kyle Heatherly back on Dec. 26, 2011. Allen also becomes the first player under head coach Scott Cooper to collect the award.

At home last Tuesday, Allen scored 14 to help IUSB topple Trinity Christian 105-74 in the season-opening win over Trinity Christian. With the help of Allen, the Titans have now won their last 10 season openers. Allen shot 5-of-9 from the field and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line while dishing out an assist and collecting a steal.

Allen followed up his 14-point performance tying a career-high 25 on Sunday against Bellevue (RV) at the St. Francis (Ill.) Thanksgiving Classic. The Indianapolis, Ind. native was a staggering 8-for-8 from the line, 7-for-15 from the floor and 3-for-6 from behind the arc while grabbing four rebounds to help the Crimson & Cream defeat the Bruins who received votes in the NAIA Top 25 Preseason Coaches’ Poll.  Allen converted on a pair of free throws in the final three seconds to stop the Bruins late comeback as the final read 84-79.

Allen now has scored in double-figures in all IUSB games during the 2020-21 campaign and ranks first on the team with 19.5 points per game. The senior guard also leads IUSB and ranks fifth in the CCAC in scoring.

Allen and the Titans are back on the road this week for a non-conference game at IU Northwest on Saturday, Dec. 5 for an in-state showdown at 3 p.m. ET.
