TU Volleyball Scores Non-League Win Over Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The 17th-ranked Trojans bounced back from their third loss of the season with their 12th three-set sweep of the year and 21st win overall. Following Friday’s four-set defeat at Thomas More, Taylor got right back in the win column via a 25-15, 25-23, 28-26 win at Georgetown (6-12) on Saturday afternoon.

TU turned in a much more efficient performance in the win, hitting .297 as a team for the match and blitzing the hosts in the opening set with 17 kills and just two miscues over 50 swings for a 25-15 decision.

Things got far more competitive following the lopsided opening set, with Taylor needing to overcome a 15-8 deficit to score a 25-23 lead in the second. Leads of 8-2 and 20-15 for Taylor in the third were nearly not enough, as the hosts battled all the way back before kills from Amanda Adams and Karli Ware sealed the 28-26 win.

Ryan Czerniak paced the offense throughout with 13 kills in 20 swings, while Adams ended with 11 terminations. Stephaney Fifield collected 20 digs and Kacy Bragg tossed up 39 assists.

No. 17 Taylor (21-3, 10-1 CL) will get back into Crossroads League play on Wednesday, October 6 with a NAIA Top-25 clash at No. 7 Marian (19-0, 11-0 CL) at 7:00 pm.
