LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following their 22-win season and third appearance in the NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Championship, IU South Bend placed three representatives on the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s All-Mideast Region Team, announced by the AVCA on Friday.
Junior McKenzie Powell took home two honors, earning both a spot on the All-Region Team and being named the AVCA Mideast Region Setter of the Year. Powell was also an All-CCAC First Team pick and the conference’s setter of the year, after averaging 10.7 assists per set for the Titans (22-8).
Joining Powell on the All-Region Team are seniors Hannah Marchand and Julie Brown. Marchand was the Titans’ top scorer this season, with an average of 5.0 points per set, the 8th-highest average in the NAIA. Brown led the CCAC with a .368 attack percentage and averaged 3.4 kills per set, good for 6th-most in the conference. Both Marchand and Brown add the All-Region honors to their accolades this season, after both earning All-CCAC First Team recognition last month.
Marchand also becomes IUSB’s first three-time AVCA All-Region Team member, having earned the honor in 2019 and the spring of 2021. Powell was previously a two-time AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention, while Brown is a first-time selection. The 2021 campaign is also the first time in program history that the Titans placed three players on the AVCA All-Region Team.
