NOTES:
Texas collected 36 of the 56 available first-place votes, extending its run as the country’s No. 1 team for a third week in a row.
Behind the Longhorns, Georgia, Notre Dame and Miami held steady at Nos. 2 through 4, each backing up their spots with commanding wins in Week 4 action.
Florida cracked the rankings at No. 8 — its first appearance since September 2, 2025 — after a 52-28 rout of Ole Miss in Gainesville. It’s the Gators’ best showing since they were slotted at No. 8 back on December 8, 2019. Ole Miss tumbled six spots to No. 11 following the setback.
Oregon slid back into the poll at No. 14 on the strength of a 41-27 win over USC at the Coliseum.
Following a 20-19 victory at Michigan, Iowa landed at No. 15 for its first appearance since November 26, 2023. The ranking is the highest for the Hawkeyes since they sat at No. 14 on November 28, 2021. Mississippi State is in the poll for the first time since October 9, 2022, and rounded out the newcomers at No. 16 after a seven-point home win over Missouri.
Meanwhile, USC, Penn State, Tennessee and Louisville all exited the rankings entirely after Week 4 losses.
By conference, the SEC paces the field with seven ranked teams, trailed by the Big Ten (four), the Big 12 (three), and the ACC and FBS independents with one each.

The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2026 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The first regular season poll will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 8 (to account for Labor Day games), and the final poll will be released Sunday, Dec. 6. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective. The poll utilizes a computer program designed by Sports Systems, a TicketManager company, to compile the rankings and Kellner Ratings to publish the individual votes.
