Trojans Roll to Saturday Victory
UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor capped its first-annual Amber McClure Fayerweather Memorial Tournament in style on Saturday afternoon, overpowering Bluefield 25-17, 25-18, 25-19 to finish the tournament without a blemish in three outings.
The Trojans had their way throughout the contest, led by a combined 31 kills and a .397 clip over 58 swings by the pairing of Amanda Adams and Ryan Czerniak. As a team, TU hit .257 and logged 25 more kills than the Rams (2-2) in the three-set affair.
Adams finished with 18 kills and 10 digs, while Czerniak had 13 kills and Grace Isaacs ripped seven kills in just 11 attempts. Kacy Bragg also recorded a double-double with 35 assists and 11 digs, and the Purple and Gold got two service aces each off the hands of Nikki Parrett and Karli Ware.
Taylor (6-1) will now turn its attention toward Crossroads League play, with a Wednesday clash at Grace (3-1) up next for the Trojans. That CL opener for both squads is slated for a 7:00 pm start in Winona Lake.
